Ju Lian was known for his bird-and-flower paintings as well as people and plant-and-insect paintings. While inheriting the skills of traditional Chinese painting, he made bold innovations. He created his own collision methods with water and powder, developing a unique Chinese painting style and forming the "Ju Pai" style.
